what to do when the drs dont give a crap

i have a new pdoc and she could care less about me i told her that my hallucinations have gotten worse and that i cant sleep any more. she just asked if i drunk alchol or did drugs how insulting is that she didnt change or up my meds just kept me on the same ones. she was cold and didnt seem to care that i am suffering but i have no choice its free mental health care so i guess i should expect to be treated like shit. i dont know i miss my old dr she cared well at least enough to try.

Tell her straight up how you feel. And tell her that you feel insulted. I know it may not be easy to pay for, but you may have to stop seeing her. If you really don't like her, you will know in time. And it's important to have someone who cares about you instead of someone like this jerk you are talking about.

I disagree...the doctor asked about some serious causes of the things you are experiencing....she did not up meds or change them for a reason giving them time to work...they have a half life you know they build in the system...working on recovering means giving the doctor a honesty that you give no one else....not just that you think they do not care...heck I know where you are and I know you want help....give the chance to help to the lady and share yourself with her...without a level of honesty on your part you wise ass yourself out of the help you could get if you trust the process and ask good questions not throwing insults or showing distrust and fear....

just my humble opinion having been a part of a recovery team that is over 30yrs long, my own recovery team that is....

i mean ive been diagnosed and on this medication for over a year yes those are valaid questions when you first come in but ive awnsered it a million times and it really does get old

I sympathize with your complaint. I had a similar incident happen to me. But don't expect a new pdoc to adjust your meds the first time you see her. She may in all likelihood be a difficult, lazy, incompetent dope. I find many pdocs and therapist like to dwell on drug abuse that occured 15 years before the diagnosis and even then it was experimental -- not like you were some kind of addict. They don't care. And no matter how disabled you are from the disorder, many pdocs will keep you from getting the help you need from Uncle Sam. It depends on what state you live in.
