Hello, I am writing to let fellow members, know that I started a psychiatric day program. The first day, I was really very anxious and did not know what to expect. Both the therapist Selena and psychiatric ARNP Amy were very welcoming, caring and understanding. The other patients, are very nice people as well. There's been some patients that had discharged today and last Friday, while two new patients, two women joined the day program today.Things change, people come and go.
I met and told the ARNP, Amy my schizophrenia story. She was concerned and understanding. Two days before I entered, the day program, my psychiatrist who practices at the hospital in the inpatient program, while the hospital' day program is in a building across from the hospital, had me up my Fanapt dose to 20mg. It was working at first, but this last thursday, I started having these very frightening death thoughts. thoughts are absolutely horrifying, nightmarish and very bad. I was hearing these intrusive thoughts/voices on Friday,over the weekend as well as today 11/7. I am scared so much, that it puts a chill down my spine. I told Amy about these death thoughts and voices on Friday. She said to see over this last weekend how the meds were doing. On, today 11/7, I talked to Amy again and told her the intrusive death thoughts/voices are getting worse each day. She, has me starting with the maximum dose of Fanapt at 24mg. They have been making me feel very sad and feel bad about myself. At the day program, we do guided meditation on tuesdays and thursday. The first two times, I was trouble keeping my eyes closed. When my eyes were closed, I felt pressure on my eyes, had a headache and had visual hallucinations where I was seeing bright colors, green was the main color. They looked like the colors were abstract shapes connected together or optical illusions. I dislike hallucinations as well, they frighten me and they make me feel wierd.
I am hoping that the 24mg of Fanapt will start making a difference, otherwise Amy talked about changing to a new anti-psychotic or possibly having to admit me as an inpatient. I am hoping for the rest of November to be positive and that I'll be feeling better, getting back on track soon. I will let you all know when I get discharged from the day program, later this November or sometime in December. I wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving and a great November.
