what the heck is poutine???

it's french fries, cheese and gravy! It's from Quebec originally - it's simple comfort food but SO good! :)

now I am hungry and we have nothing to eat in the house ....bummed.

Everyone at another computer gathering place jokes about poutine ... but it sounds pretty good in an unhealthy way.

Yeah sounded great !! Thought I just would take this time to say sorry I haven't been around lately...I'm on a paleo diet and working hard on some short stories for a new workshop I'm in, online.....I've taken a look at the topics a few times. You've been dealing with some heavy issues......I guess I'm still psychotic but functioning well, just that I feel everyone can read my mind (though I can't there's??? not fair!!!). It is so pervasive it has become my normal reality...nice to see you all online. I'll keep checking in. Sorry, just really busy, which is good for me....keep on truckin' !!!

Think I'd put on the Kilos just by looking at that never mind eating it. The things that go through my mind like "What do they call french fries in Canada?"

we call `em french fries. it's not poutine until you add the gravy and cheese curds.

in new zealand we called `em chips, and in south africa we called em chippies with red sauce (which was an eerie pink colour)

Poutine does sound familiar though. No idea where I've heard it but do have a back ground in catering so could be from anywhere. I'm sure I'd remember eating something like that too.

Call them chips in OZ as well. Although tend to get the mix of the British and American influence so can get called just "fries" for the smaller chips. Can get confusing as we call our crisps here chips as well.
