I had sort of scrapping sounds and sort of off the radio station with music I thought it was better to stop listening to it as it was just triggering off my anxiety and the breaking of the code I really can relate to. All this was before my last hospitalization. So I'm inclined to say make a appointment to see your doctor ASAP.

I see my doctor tomorrow so it's just a case of getting through the night, although i shall take your advice and stop listening i think :)

If I/we can help you get through to the appointment do not hesitate to ask. or do get help through other means if you need it. You don't have to go through it alone and your not.

I have that psychotic symptom also when I'm in psychosis. It's especially bad with trippy lyrics.

In order to cope with this, I have re-organized my music collection into categories:

Lexical (has words, maybe even lots of them)
Semi-Lexical (has a few words or maybe just chanting)
Instrumental (has no words or chanting at all)

So when I'm having psychotic symptoms but need to listen to music, I just listen to the Instrumental files and only copy those onto my MP3 player.

After I'm doing better I switch back to Semi-Lexical and then when enough time has passed I can allow myself to listen to Lexical.

Verbal Hallucinations some say are the speech centre of the brain talking to itself or being accidentally triggered. So I think it's wise to avoid overstimulation during psychosis.

There's a lot of really good ambient instrumental music out there if you look for it online.

How did the appointment go with the Pdoc?

He didnt turn up, so I saw my care co-ordinator instead and nothing really happened, although she hinted that "medication might not be the answer" and has reffered me to a psychologist - Which I'm in two minds about because I'm not really sure what it means . . . it kinda feels like they are trying to palm me off onto someone else but we'll see I guess.

Hi! sorry you are going through that but I can kind of relate. Music gets to me. I have gotten out of relationships because music has told me to, and those were the healthy ones. Right now I feel like my music is talking to me so I keep listening over and over to it trying to find the missing message. I never knew this was abnormal before. I wish I had better advice exept your not alone and you are so smart to see that this might be a problem and see help. good luck

I get this happening a lot. Especially from electronics or inanimate objects. When I listen to music, especially on my computer, I will get messages that are telling me all sorts of bad and good things. A couple of years ago, I got a message from extra-terrestrials and that's why I've always believed that I had some encounter with ETs long ago. I will also hear like other languages coming through the music.... like in Chinese, italian, gaelic.... And it ends up doing more harm than good... since music is also my form of relaxation.

I would probably stay away from listening to music for a while... It ended getting me into a bad spot in my life.
