I heard from my older sister that there are some research breakthroughs happening in the UK which correlate schizophrenia to inflammation and that anti-inflammatory medicines might be used to treat schizophrenia with much fewer/lower side effects.
I think the research you linked is related since they both mention the immune system and the inplied issue of infectious disease.
Hopefully the developments will get faster and more advanced and the different researches from around the world will come together.
