I married a schizophrenic.

my husband was diagnois with schizophrenia since he was 19 yrs. We have been married for five yrs and have three children togther. I am at my breaking point with his illness he has accussed me from stealing money to sleeping with his brother. He does not trust anymore oh by the way we live with his mother and his two sister and brother. He has been on and of f his meds and is starting to drink more. I have sought help though crisis prevention but once they evluate him they see nothing wrong. I just dont know what else to do.

I am sorry to say that there is not much you can do unless the person is a danger to himself or others. I hope the children do not suffer or else I would take them and leave. But I am not in your situation so I dont know the details. I wish you the best.

Contact as many mental health support type systems as you can and get as much info as you can from them. You may discover a good structured way of getting help for your husband. My parents had to lie to me committed and although I am really pissed off about it, the hospitalizations did help some of the time somewhat. I'm not going off my medicine anymore because I've finally learned that every time i do it I end up extremely delusional.

sorry to hear this. Part of the problem, as I am sure you know, is the drinking. I have gone through this with my husband who was dx with Skizoaffective disorder a few yrs ago. The problems started way before he was dx but things are much better when he stays consistently on his meds. supplements and being off stimulants can help with skizo diseases but it is VERY hard to convince the one you care about that it is for their own good. My husband too went through being suspicious of me and all his family and so on. Big challenge. So, what to do. Well....nothing will help him unless he wants it to.
Counciling has really helped my hubs to help himself. He has learned ways to deal with differing between reality and delusions.
Sending you strength. I know it is hard to make a decision that would be healthy and right for your kids and yourself.

IT is done by a group of Canadian Doctors that are not slave to pharma companies and treat chemical imbalances the way they are supposed to be treated. It may save your lifes. You can also search orthomolecular treatment and 29 medical causes of schizophrenia.
