Schizophrenia is a psychiatric diagnosis that describes a mental disorder characterized by impairments in the perception of reality and by significant social dysfunction. Untreated schizophrenia is typically characterized by demonstrating disorganized thinking and experiencing delusions or auditory hallucinations.
I try to be helpful but I don't know if I am. :( This is a response I was going to send. But getting involved in what I do is distracting to say the least. I don't function that well, just pretty good.
I have communicated with dead friends and family. People put a lot of fearsome ideas in our heads about that. If I die and try to communicate with someone I hope it doesn't freak them out. I try to remain calm and I've had a good time with this. We don't know if it's real or not. The main thing is that they can't do anything to harm me and I know this. If they are negative I ask them why and for protection from the good ones.
Dream or not, I can't tell sometimes. All I know is they have never been able to hurt me. I do not do anything negative that I hear. Sometimes I hear a very negative voice saying "I want to kill myself". I will not do it the honor of calling it a spirit. It is trying to confuse me into thinking I want this. Yet it is not even me who says this. This is not my friend and I try not to give it the time of day. It has been persistent but I recognize it and tell it I know it's not me saying these things to myself. It is not my dead loved ones and it has no power over me unless I give it my power.
Of course I live with constant anxiety and that is not easy. I always get comfort knowing my loved ones are still around. I would ask my Grandma what she meant and try to clear the air but I don't know if this is good advise. Just take care of yourself and know without a doubt that illusions and dreams, even if they're real visits can't hurt us unless we do something, act, ourselves. Also I think communicating is hard. Think of trying to communicate with a person from China who spoke that language and you spoke English. If this really is our family they are a whole world away. Much farther than China. Sometimes they speak riddles and say the wrong word, even saying sentences backwards. If you ever need help not to act, get it. Or if you think you can't tell where you are or what you're doing. Take care of yourself. May be we are blessed.

But I do think we are blessed and all this stuff we see has got to be something... I bet we see into other dimensions that no one else can see. That's what I believe sometimes... that this just doesn't HAPPEN... it happens for a reason. :)
