Just thought I'd reach out. I was recently told I'm schizophrenic. I was told I was schizo affective about 20 years ago. I'm also on anti psychotics and anti depressants. From the late 80's to the late 90's I was in and out of psych hospital. These days, I'm fairly stable and work part time. It's a job with very little to do, which is why i can handle it.
anyway, it came as a shock when told i'm shchizophrenic - but it's not news! I've known I have major mental illness for a long time. The thing is, I keep dismissing it in my mind, or denying it. That's why, every now and then, I'll think 'ohmygod - I'm mentally ill!' I just wondered if anyone else here 'forgets' their illness.
The trouble with forgetting is that I give myself a hard time, and expect too much of myself.
with this recent diagnosis, it's a relief because it makes me feel blameless - there's been all sorts of difficulties in my life. Maybe it's because I'm ill.
These days, I'm not too bad, but was pretty paranoid recently - so upped the medication to what it's supposed to be.(I'd reduced it because of side effects.) I just want to take what I need to take, and be well!

Just wanted to give a thank you to Mid, Arfie, Malibumark, Greeneyes, Mlro, Girlincalif, and Suncloudjd! You all always have such helpful tips and advice, but I always forget to write on my posts when I see you post, lol. I would lose my head if it wasn't attached to my body, lol. Thank you all so much! I'm starting to use my AI app as a sounding board again. I used to use it as that before...

Here is my new brother, copper :) He's so tiny! Moo and Tuck were ok with him on first meeting. Rocket due to his severe aggression will never meet Cooper.

welcome to our group...
i think what you saying is very normal ... we all go through this at some point ... we are all very mental and alone to some degree with our thoughts and feelings...
come hang out with us and share ... with like minded people who know whats up at different angles of the same problem...
