Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic, inflammatory, multisystem, autoimmune disorder. It is a disabling and painful condition which can lead to substantial loss of mobility due to pain and joint destruction. The disease is also systemic in that it often also affects many extra-articular tissues throughout the body including the skin, blood vessels, heart, lungs, and...
My thumbs are locking, again, and the thumb side of my wrist feels like it's gonna explode. I wish it would. Anywho, my diagnosis is stenosing tenosynovitis.
Has anyone had steroid injections to this area? How'd they do?
Thanks. Thumb stuff is extra special misery.
the surgery was excruciating, for me, on the left wrist, long recovery period, for me again, and very slow to heal, and I have a match set of limitations and restrictions on the right.
i put the left one out the other day when I fell outside and now it looks like it did after surgery. i should come with bubble wrap
i find the hard resting splints at night while sleeping the most helpful.
my rheumie would not inject my wrists. She sent me to a hand ortho for the injections, for me they were useless. too painful in their administration and too little of a payback. but I bet others got good relief on here

This brachial plexus impingement of 3 verrry long weeks has settled into my right wrist & hand-all fingers, but 3 outer are worthless. Thumb & index work like pincers. My wrist will not move upward. All major nerves-radial, Median and ulnar- are affected.
Have I said how scary this is? The longer it goes on the more worried I get. The nerves should come back but neuro is saying since it's happening a 2nd time its more likely to recur with frequency. This time is much worse than the last time. I'm right handed and barely able to perform daily grooming presently. I'm learning to write with my left.
To top it off with a cherry, the impingememt has set off some type of central nervous system hyper-stimulation effect. All of my senses are turned up to 15. I can't focus. I can't eat. And my wonderful insurance runs out next week.
Fun times!
For the other sufferers, Im sorry. I guess we're all in this together. Wish we weren't but c'est la vie.
Take care,
Emerald
Just another example of bloodwork not necessarily showing the whole picture.
I've had my Remicade dosage doubled, a decent dose of IV steroids & a 2hr neuromuscular massage with no improvement. Sometimes you can do all the right things & this damn disease still freaking wins!
Today anyway. I'll play the game again tomorrow & maybe I'll win this time!
where have you been?
missed you

I'm so sorry. Mine just hurts. I hope they get it under control fast.
I gotta say my heating pad is my very bestest friend today, and my little microwavable pearly heating pad thingy.
