I've been having more rather than less joint pain all over. As always with a flare, there's some fresh new hell as well as the old familiar woes. This time it's my wrists: the outsides, just above the bump at the end of each ulna. Anyone else had this?

I had gotten to the point where I could hardly lift anything, my wrists were so bad. But since I started Orencia, I have not had another flare that bad with the wrist. Good luck and hope it goes away soon.

Yes I am right with you on this area plus like you said lots of other areas. I have been wearing compression gloves lately mostly during the night but if I am just sitting around during the day I will put them then too.... and they have helped a lot with the pain my hands and wrist. They were a little costly because I got them from a home health store but they were worth it. Hope you feel better soon.

Oh yeah...this most recent flare went for my wrists bad amongst other stuff.. Lost a lot of strength in my hands and wrists, several weeks before I could pick up a coffee mug with one hand and it still can be painful. Only thing that helps is not moving them- yeah, right, that's easy....sorry to hear you're having this issue.
Carrottop-I've been searching for compression gloves that also include the wrist, do yours cover both?

Here are the compression gloves I have... I didn't purchase them from this site... I brought mine in a local home health store. They measured my hands and made sure they sold me the right size gloves.

Funny you should ask! I woke up this morning barely able to bend my left wrist and the joint you mentioned was the reason why. I tried to think really hard what the heck I did yesterday to cause this. Well, I had bought a new floor fan and I think I was folding the cardboard box it came in into a tight area so I could get it into the trash bag. How dare I??

Boy, we live life on the edge, don't we? Daring to fold up cardboard? Picking up a coffee mug with ONE hand? What a bunch of risk-takers and daredevils! I actually used a screwdriver today. And wire cutters. Talk about a love of danger.

Does anyone know, is there some fussy little tendon there that likes to throw a hissy fit? A bone that's prone to having episodes? I've had something similar of the other side of my wrists, at the very base of the thumb joint- you know, the one that acts up if you try to get fancy and open a jar by yourself?

Does this sound right? It's common with RA & effects the thumb side.

Have you tried the braces or splints?
Use them from time to time.
There is one made for night time use covers a larger area that I've worn during the day. Hinders using my hand but does help at times with carpal tunnel & neuropathy.
Almost afraid to say this but my wrist have not been to bad with the RA. Has to be painful & limiting. Just the thought makes me cringe.
My husband bought me that Australian arthritis dream cream.
Really had no real hopes it would help. His feelings were hurt that I had not opened it after about a week. So I gave it a try & surprised that it did indeed help. Doesn't last as long as I'd like it to but it does provide some relief. As he pointed out money back guarantee also.

Emerald, Monsieur deQuervain must be related to the SOB Monsieur Dupuytren that messed up my hand. What is it with these French men and hand problems? Is there another one responsible for the trouble in the other side of the wrist?

The surgery I had recently was on the CMC joint, at the base of the thumb/wrist area. Could be it?

Had to ask an attendant to pump my gas tonight bcuz I HAD to get enough to go for appointments this week. He was so nice, said his Mom had the same trouble with her wrists, and wouldn't accept a tip.

My wrists seem to go out on the outside (pinkie finger side), it makes me afraid of holding my new grandbaby, so I put my braces on and go for it. Trish

an update if helpful-I asked my Dr to order an ultrasound because the stiffness & pain has been so intense. It showed tenosynovitis in the tendons running down the upper arms/wrists/hands. makes sense for me & hurts most when bending my hands down.
I've tried a couple of over the counter compression gloves but the pain was more intense & I couldn't get them off fast enough. Must be due to
the inflammation & will wait a while before trying it again.
