I started Meloxicam (Mobic) about 10 days ago. I was amazed at how well that little pill took my pain and inflammation away. I was ecstatic, thinking I had finally found something to help me out of my misery.
Well, about the third day on it, I started having serious stomach symptoms, so I took a good antacid. That helped. But then, Thursday and Friday of this past week, I started having a non-stop headache. I couldn't take anything for it because I cannot take Tylenol (you can't take any other NSAID when on Mobic - it causes gastric bleeding.
I had to leave work early on Friday because of my headache. I started to wonder if my BP was high, possibly causing the headaches. Sure enough, my BP was "way" high (for me). I was so scared, I took my nightly BP med right away (very early in the day). Then, all day yesterday, even though I had taken my BP med, my BP kept creeping up, higher and higher. Every time I took my BP, I was getting more and more freaked out about it, probably only making it worse. By last night, I decided if it got up to 100 on the diastolic side, I was going to drive myself to a clinic.
I took another early dose of my BP med, and rechecked my BP. It was finally coming down a bit. Then, by this morning (after discontinuing the Mobic) my BP is back to normal.
I read online that Mobic can do this, and it sure as heck did for me. I am so scared of having a stroke (my father had many), that I will never take this medicine again, even though it helped my pain a lot.

I've been on Mobic 15mg daily-I split my dose am & pm- for about 3yrs now and haven't had any problems. I do have high bp and take meds for that. I also make sure I don't take more than 15mg a day or any other nsaids. I knew about the gastro bleeding but I had no idea it could cause your bp to spike like that.
I'm glad everything settled down for you before it became an emergency situation. Home bp monitors are worth every penny. I use mine daily just to make sure I'm within normal limits.

I was told I was "a stroke walking"- very scary. As soon as I stopped the Arava my bp came back to normal.
I hope you find another med which will help you without a reaction.
Mobic was not effective enough for me when I tried it few years ago.
Such a shame when you find something that provides relief & that same something becomes a threat.
