Rheumatoid Arthritis Support Group
Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic, inflammatory, multisystem, autoimmune disorder. It is a disabling and painful condition which can lead to substantial loss of mobility due to pain and joint destruction. The disease is also systemic in that it often also affects many extra-articular tissues throughout the body including the skin, blood vessels, heart, lungs, and...

Artificial sweeteners make the body think it's getting sugar so it ramps itself up to deal with sugar and then gets nothing...really screws with the glucose numbers.
Water, black coffee, tea with nothing in it...that's about it....otherwise you get a call and you do it all over again.
Not as bad as trying to sneak food after doing the prep for a colonoscopy....it does screw things up and yes, you do have to repeat it.
There's a reason we get orders like....FAST until after the test!

I was also told some years ago that black coffee was OK. But the last time I went for blood work I did a bit of a test.
The time before I had my 2 cups of coffee in the morning without any sweetener. My Glucose reading was in the high 200's. Now I found that weird since I regularly check my glucose level and it has consistently been in the mid 100's which is pretty good for me.
So this last time I had no coffee - just water. Well low and behold my glucose reading was in the 100's just like it should be.
And I have always had my tests done first thing in the morning. You can still eat supper and even a snack before midnight and be good. I get my blood drawn at 8am then head over to the local mini-mart and get a couple egg/bacon sandwiches and I am good to go.
I got a call from the doctors office and they said everything was good, chest X-ray and labs.
I then said I seen it and it said pre- diabetes. She went on to say because of my history and never have had any issues they are not worried. Sounds good to me.
But I just got in the mail yesterday every referral for an endoscopy, colonoscopy and a visit to the OBGYN because I have hit menopause according to the test to. Oh what fun! Not!
I had a colonoscopy when I was 40 due to issues. That's the only one that worries me.
Which test was it? What was the number [if you don't mind sharing]?
I am Type II diabetic so I know a bit about this.
True......just water for 8 hours before blood draw.
