like someone is trying to pull my toes off my feet one by one

You wake up with your feet red and swollen (the balls of my feet and some toes), not wanting to touch the floor and pain like you went all night dancing in your (previously worn) highest heels the night before...but you didn't...there's never any fun involved! (o:

Where is the pain centralized? In the actual toe joints? or what I like to call, the "toe knuckle" (where your toes join your feet/ like the balls of your feet?

Definitely the balls of my feet - the toe joints at the foot and you can also feel it if you push between the toes.

Yeah, that sounds like the pain I have. Guess it IS from RA. At least it's not something new!!! LOL

My issue was stiffness for about 4 hours every morning. Only had joint pain in small joints in one hand and big toe only on one side. Also have nodule on elbow that swelled to the size of a golf ball with fluid. Not the usual.

The common description I have heard is it feels like you're walking on marbles. Yeah - sharp red hot glass marbles. It hurts at my MTP (metatarsalphalangeal) joints. If your squeeze in any direction, it hurts.

I also get this pain that feels like a stab/cramp/ache in various places in my feet (and other joints), but especially the sides of my heels, ankles, and arch. And... sometimes I get the sawing feeling. But only when things are really bad.

Took the words right out of my mouth confoosed! Yep, marbles in your shoes. Sometimes it also feels like a big draft horse stepped on my foot. Touchy!

Secret,

I would like to 2nd or 3rd the notion that walking is painful. In addition, if your toes are swollen, it feels funny flexing them because they feel so fat.

Also, peeps with RA are way more likely to get bunions and I have one on each foot which causes even more pain walking.

My pain is exactly as Confoosed described the only thing I would add is they feel very tight I am sure this is from the swelling.

I guess I'm different ):

My foot/toe pain can vary. Sometimes it is just the entire toe(s) aching like they are broken. The balls of my feet hurt most days. This can range from feeling like the bottoms of my feet are bruised, to feeling like my socks are wadded up at the ball of the foot to feeling like I am walking on river rocks or marbles. Sometimes I get very sharp stabbing pains in my to joints. I have had times where it feels like the bottoms of my feet and my toes are being burned.

Mine feels like I'm walking around with a golf ball right below my toes, its actually swollen and makes it difficult to walk. I end up walking on my heel or the inside of my foot, which in turn throws off my stride so I end up with aches up through my leg. So far it's only the left foot; I'm going in to see a podiatrist the 19th, so we shall see what he can do?! I'm not sure if this is considered a nodule or not but it hurts like mad. Burning is also a sensation that happens, usually in the evening. Good luck. Trish

I find the walking is painful and I end up shuffling along. Also the top part of my big toe hurts and the bend o get my certain shoes on is tricky and uncomfortable. Sometimes I need a shoe horn. Been back and forth waking up as I have been a bit uncomfortable tonight and go to sleep then wake up with something hurting. I finally placed a Lidocaine patch on my knee. Op knee is becoming more sore than it was previously. Not certain why. May have to give Ortho doc a call. I think it is just the nature of the beast.
