vertigo?

can someone explain to me what vertigo feels like? i get dizzy sometimes and it's not like a low blood sugar dizzy, which i've had in the past, but it's not like regular lightheadedness.

wish i understood my body more.

For me it was a feeling of the room spinning around and I had nausea with movement. Very uncomfortable but they have meds that help.

For me ,vertigo is when i move my head slightly and the room start to spin.if i sit up too fast,the room spins.Its different than the dizziness I also feel sometimes if I feel faint.the faintness dizziness is more like"I'm gonna pass out".The vertigo is more like i'm gonna fall over if the room doesnt stay still.

Vertigo is when the room spins around you.. It can happen when you change position e.g. when you first lie down in bed, I also find sometimes when hanging out washing and reaching up and looking up, everything spins. You feel you are going to pass out and throw up (I haven't yet.)
My GP sent me to an ENT who also is involved with balance. He diagnosed Benign Postural Disturbance caused by crystals in the ear canal. He balanced my ear canal. He also did 3 MRIs and a CT scan of brain, neck and head to rule out any other problem there. Sometimes I still get vertigo when I change from sitting to lying or sitting to standing up but I don't worry so much now I know what caused it.
It is a horrible feeling, though.

i don't think that's it then. it doesn't get worse or anything when i move. just sometimes i get this strange swimmy pressurey feeling in my head. it feels different when i move. reminds me of being drunk but not the spins. i'm not surprised though. i usually have something going on with me that doesn't have a name or anything like that.

I had BPV and it was awful. Always felt off balance, felt like I was going a different direction than my body was moving, driving became diificult at best. I did the repositiong exercises to move the crystals away from my inner ear and I was almost completely cured.

When I was on prednisone I also had a constant feeling of my equalibrium being off. If I tried to focus on a point very long I would start to feel dizzy and sick. This went away when I stopped using a maintenance dosage of this medication.

You could have one or several issues coming into play. My Dr recommended seeing an ear, nose and throat specialist who in turn sent me to a physical therapist for evaluation which helped in a proper dx and treatment. If it is more than a mild inconvenience for you then it would probably be worth the trip to the Dr.
