I'll start injections in mid-January (or as soon as it clears the insurance hurdles and is shipped to me). My rheumatologist will do the first one, or guide me through it under her supervision, rather. At my apointment last week, she send me home wtih a big chunk of reading material, which I will read now that all of the guests are gone. But I figure you folks know things that aren't in the standard handouts. For instance, I'm reading the thread about yeast infections and UTI's and biologics and realizing I'm already prone to yeast infections unless I'm on a moderately low carb diet - whenever I overindulge in sugar and carbs for awhile I seem to be more prone to them. So, it seems like it might be a good idea to make some adjustments there. And, I haven't yet had a shingles vaccine, but I actually have a scrip for one in hand. Am I right that I should probably go deal with that right away, so I have about two or three weeks before I start the Humira? Is there anything else that you'v learned from your experience that you can share? Thanks in advance, I always appreciate the advice here.
I had the auto-injector once for Simponi, because the pharmacy ordered it wrong, and could not send it back and get the self inject. I would not do it, so the pharmacist did, and did I scream! What a horrible feeling! The pharmacy did not make that mistake again! LOL
Orenica probably took me a year, to work fully, and even with Arava it was not enough. So now, with mthx also, I am feeling more like myself. I still have a drop off day or two, but I am still hoping that will stop. Or, there is still the option of going back to Kineret. I am afraid to change from a drug that is working, to one that worked well a long time ago, of course. Especially because if Kineret doesn't work, that leaves me without a biologic. I won't change unless Orencia stops working.
