Not sure if anyone is still here from a year ago, when I last posted.  I've been in transition.  In any event, I experienced something new, after having RA for 48 years.  About a month and a half ago, I woke up with pain in my right eye.  It was a dull aching pain, kind of like something you would get if you had the flu.  Then a few days later, my entire eye was bloodshot.  I went to see an ophthalmologist, who told me I had a subconjunctive hemmorhage, not to worry about it, and that it would go away in a couple of weeks.  She gave me some Prednisone type eyedrops.  The pain started coming back around the third week and my eye was still completely bloodshot, so she told me to go back on the eyedrops.  Another two or three weeks went by, and I continued to have eye pain and my bloodshot eye was no better, so I made another appointment.  This time, she said I had Episcleritis and she gave me some stronger eyedrops.  Come to find out that Episcleritis is another lovely side-kick condition caused by RA and other such autoimmune diseases like Lupus.  I had never heard of it, in all the years I've had RA, so I thought I would pass this on. By the way, I'm on my second week of the stronger eyedrops, and my eye is starting to look more normal.  I just hope the pain doesn't come back.  The drops aren't really safe to stay on too long, because they can raise the pressure inside the eye causing glaucoma.
