There was some silliness about 18months ago. Some really neat people left this site. At the time there was a research troll called Celia something or other who wrote a rather pathetic 'thesis' (not PHD) relating to the the way the site worked. Very low calibre writing, rather inaccurate, and I wondered at the university that would employ her or condone what she did. (Someone sent me the full piece of writing via my email.)
I dont think the stirring up is anything like that now, just people not entirely well taking things personally. Could it be better just to ignore comments like that do?
I wasnt attacked at all but didnt come near the site for quite a few months as it got accusatory, people suspicious of others etc but I really think as new people come in and issues get discussed, sometimes rediscussed, it is an invaluable source of information.
I havent found anywhere else like this site at its best. I guess it is like the social interactions around us. You cant love everyone, and you "muddle along" as my husband is fond of saying, doing your best.
Anyone who is reading this and thinking of it, please dont leave entirely. Maybe take a break. There was one poster who left who has truly been a loss to this site and I hope it doesnt happen again as I am finding you all so interesting.
