I have the same problem much of the time. Both in my feet and my hands. It feels allmost like a chemical burn in the large area just behind my toes, and on my hands between the palm and the fingers. It burns, but is not sensitive to touch. I can get some relief by gentle massage. My Doctor told my that it was probably from the RA.

Don't know what causes it, but I also have it in hands & feet.
I've described it like "sunburn" under the skin. An ice pack sometimes helps.

Thank yall for your replies. The chemical burn and sunburn under the skin are both good descriptions. I do remember my husband gently rubbing my feet and giving me alittle relief.. I am sorry you feel it to but it is comforting not being alone. Hugs, Terri

I have this too. My doc gave me an anti-depressant that also is supposed to help with the from my burning feet. It has helped a bit, but my RA seems to change and move around a lot. I am doing pretty well these days, as I think my meds are working!

I have this also and have been dxed with fibro, lyrica stopped it for me at 200 mgs per day.

Me, too. I take Gabapentin. It works well to control this. Ican always tell if I am late for a dose!

Interesting because doctor and I just talked about the burning on my arm where the long sleeved sweater hits.......he felt nerve, but could be caused from the ra in the elbow putting pressure on that nerve in my wrist..........Hope you feel better soon!!!!!!!

"Scalding" - that is such a good term! Havent been able to think of a description - kind of the sore on the surface that can happen with hot water burns. Hadnt thought in that direction until your post. Now I have extra description to take to my appointments.

Like others here, it does happen from time to time - usually my hands rather than feet. Hope it passes quickly.

This is what I noticed before I finally scheduled an appointment with an RA doctor. It got to the point that I wanted to plunge my hands and feet into ice cold water!

Thank you again for your replies. I am going to my regular physician Monday. I will definently discuss this with him. I am coming out of a RA research and we need to plan a treatment. I am taking Cymbalta and abilify and I have tried Lyrica but not the Gabapentin. I will look into it. It seems to happen most when I have stood for awhile.
The bad part about shoving my feet into ice is that cold kills my bones and joints. Lynne is so right about RA bouncing around. This morning I can't stop drooling.A 50 year old that drools ! BUT chins up, it could always be worse. No matter how bad I get I remind myself there are other ALOT worse than me!!

This sounds like Raynauds syndrome. I have that and I take Lyrica for it. Lyrica helps alot. I hope this helps. It definately hurts like crazy!
