Heyya Wes! That's good news. MTX does crap for me by itself. Humira did crap for me by itself. Taken in combination they have worked wonders for me! I hope it does the same for you!!

I've been on 7 biologics, with varying degrees of success. But when they are successful, you can function so much better!

I always say, be afraid of the damage that RA can do to the body, not the meds that stop the progression of the disease! As for side effects, no one gets all of them, and many times you get none of them. I have been lucky and had only small or no side effects with the biologics I have tried, including Orencia, which I am on right now with Arava and mthx.

I hope this combo helps you get control of your RA. I added humira to MTX due to lack of effectiveness and it has been better with them together.
Give it time since it can take even up to 2-3 months to work. So don't get discouraged if the added biologic doesn't give you a big improvement off the bat.

Thanks everybody. I am still waiting for insurance approval but I will be on Humara w/MTX. I was more concerned about the change before I started another flair this weekend. Now my feet are so fat and sore I don't want to walk. I'm the Orkin Man. I kinda walk for a living. Can't wait to get more drugs.

I just wanted to say. I know they list all the side affects and the Dr tells you them but like most have said you may not get any of them. I have been on humria and Arava and they seemed to work well but I did get a side affect from the Arava. My hair started to fall out by the hand full. I stopped taking it 2 months ago and my hair finally stopped falling out. But I am having flares with just humria. Give it time too. Does take a while to get in system. I am going on 6 month once a week. But I also have prednisone for bad flares. Hope it works for you.

I totally understand what its like to be afraid of the medications and of changes. In fact, not sure but may need a change now with recent flare. Been on orencia for 10 years and i know it helps because when I'm delayed for infusion I'm in extreme pain within 3 to 5 days. I also take metho, prednisone and arava. It's a lot of stuff but you have to choose at some point between pain and barely functioning and less pain and more function. Best to you and i pray it works for you.

Hi Wes. Biologics are an absolutely insane, ridiculous choice to make........for a healthy person. But if you have RA, it can be the better choice of two evils, you know?
