Hi, I am sorry you are in so much pain. I have RA in my ankles and sometimes the pain is so bad that I have to drag my feet along the way in order to move and the pain in the achilles tendon was awful. I have used patches, and Voltaren cream and pain med and elevating my foot on a pillow which seemed to help a bit. It was when I went to my second podiatrist and she put two creams on the ankles, one Voltaren and wrapped both ankles in ace bandages and prayed over my ankles. I had been suffering since Feb.with this pain and the Rheumatologist put a steroid in the ankle of one to no avail and did not know what else to do. But the praying helped. I did the same at home while I rubbed my ankles with the Voltaren cream. Now I just elevate the ankles while I am in the bed.

I first realized there was something seriously wrong when it hurt to simply walk - no matter what shoes I wore and how much NSAIDS I took. But, I have found relief with methotrexate, enbrel, and another strong NSAID. That said, I was so resistant to taking these drugs - not wanting to be dependent on prescriptions. But, I have found that is the only way for me...at least for now. Hope you find the right drug combo for you and you should consider finding a new rheumy that can get you in quicker!

I have RA go in all my joints. One day while working I thought my sock in my shoe was balled up under my toes and kept messing with my shoes. No such luck, it was pockets of fluid. I often feel like I am walking on marbles. I started on Embrel and that has given me a lot of relief. I now wear comfortable shoes all the time and that helps a little. My husband asked if I was ever going to wear heals again and my response was after he wore marbles in his shoes and walked around all day on them lol.

RA in my feet has been extremely problematic for me. I am now on rituxan and along with a month of PT even my feet are doing better. My rhuemy explained that your feet are complex with many bones and joints and you need to address those issues with someone who is extremely knowledgable about the feet, either a podiatrist or foot doctor that speciazlizes in chronic problems with the feet. I am now on rituxan and even my feet are feeling good for the first time in a long while. Maybe your RA drugs need to be tweeked or changed. Talk to your doctor. Hopefully the 2 of you can help your pain. Happy holidays, hugs, marcia
