Went to see a podiatrist today for advice on my feet pain. He immediately noticed that my big toes were wrought with osteo arthritis. I find that interesting because the most severe pain I've had with My RA has been in my knees, thumbs and large toes. I was already diagnosed with osteo arthritis is my knees and thumbs and now I find that I have it in my large toes. I never was troubled with the osteo arthritis in these joints prior to my first big RA flare in December. Now when all my other joints calm (presumably from the Enbrel) these joints don't calm as Enbrel does squat for OA. This is kind of an enigma to me because I'm convinced it was the RA that aggravated the OA in these joints but they clearly aren't responding to the Enbrel treatment as Enbrel is useless for osteo arthritis.
Does anyone have a similar experience? Is it possible that the RA has worsened the OA in the joints? If my pain now is due to OA then will this calm down as my RA calms down? It may not and I may have to suffer with osteo arthritis which never once bothered me in the past!
