I just wanted to bring this up because I see so many people suffering from the side effects of drugs. I have had RA for two years and understand what some of those side effects are like.......blurry vision, extreme fatigue, hair loss, nausea, eroding muscle, brain fog, weight gain, weight loss, bruising, etc.
A year ago and for an entire year, I was on prednisone, mtx, and for a brief amount of time, sulfasalazine.
What I have found is those drugs work!
But in time, in all my research, I came across other methods, and for right now those include low dose naltrexone and neprinol, along with other supplements.
Both drugs improve your immune system and I feel way better than I ever did on those other drugs. I also use other supplements that have me in a great place.
What do you think and what have you been told in regards to RA being the result of an overactive immune system? Why do you think it is that pregnant women often go into remission?
It is in my believe and understanding that pregnant women have higher doses of estrogen and progesterone (that naturally decrease inflammation) and as well, pregnant bodies decrease and control tnf protein which is how a drug like Enbrel works.
But what have you read and what are your thoughts?
Thanks and Hugs!

I am not going to comment on Naltrexone because I don't know enough about it. I would like to thank you, Sarah for sharing this information with us, though. I also wanted to support the major premise of your message, namely, that recovery from RA requires strengthening of our immune system. When I was diagnosed and started reading about RA this idea did not make any sense to me. After all, RA is about the immune system acting too much, isn't it? Well, I now know that it is not. RA is about the immune system being wrong, losing direction, becoming confused, and spending too much energy on the wrong thing Obviously, this means that is weak rather than strong. So, anything that we can do to strengthen it is good. Thanks again, Sarah for sharing. Linda

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
