Prednisone or cortisone?

What has worked better for most people? I hate when I have to get shots in my knees, but it always feels better once I have steroid in me. Starting August 1st, I have to be in Dallas for a week for school and I am scared that I won't be able to walk that well when I am there. I am seeing my doctor on Monday and I know she will give me the option of having the shot or taking pred. pills? Does anyone have any experience using both methods? Which has been the most effective?

I prefer cortizone. It lasts for months and there are no side effects. Prednisone is something I am trying to stay away from. Too many side effects that it scares me.

Hello,
Shots are better than pred pills. The pills have too many side effects. For me pills caused cataracts in both eyes and I'm only 39, not to mention the weight gain, moon face, mega mood swings.

Ugg prednisone makes me a different person. It's the nastiest med out there for me. My husband took it when he had cancer, and it even made him different. He would get road rage so bad, I wanted to jump out of the car. You moods go so up and down. I rather get the shots, you do get a little hyped up, but nothing like predisone.
The shots are immediate and last long, prednisone wears off daily and the next day you have to start all over. I think the pain gets worse with prednisone.

I too formed cataracts from Prednisone as well as weight gain...but thankfully I don't have the mood changes! I've taken pills and had infusion therapy.
