I've been on mtx for 2 yrs and plaquenil for 6 months. After the plaquenil started working - maybe 3 months ago) my rheum. planned on my not needing a small daily dose of prednisone.
Well, I did pretty well for several months but now-now---just having gone through a physically and emotionally draining Christmas season ( we sell Christmas trees) all of a sudden I'm back to feeling bad and having some joint flare-ups.
I see the rheum. again in 2 weeks but want to start some pred. again before then. Am wondering how many mgs I can carefully jump into and then of course start weaning it down, less every week....
After being "flareless" and feeling almost normal for a while, how depressing to get those old familiar feelings and pains again!

I would advise against starting back up on Prednisone until you call and speak with your doctor. Prednisone has so many side effects, and that i myself would be scared to start such a potent medication without the doctors approval.
I do hope you feel better.... I remember how my husband's pain was...
