p.s. I just noticed I typed in my last post, "I'm so 'exciting' to get my new book." LOL!
I have been doing so much research since I was diagnosed. I even have a pinterest board dedicated to diet and exercise for RA. :) There are foods that cause inflammation no dout. So, I will be excited to see how it goes for you.
I'm 47, and I've been blessed to never have to take mediaction. I have an anxiety disorder. I have really bad panic attacks. My GP tried to put me on meds to control it. I took one pill, and decided it wasn't for me. I just try to control the panic attacks myself, I've done it pretty much my whole life.
My first visit with my rheumy he told me he would start me on methotrexate after all my lab work came back. He told me it would not help any present joint damge, but it would help prevent future damage. I'm so dreading this meds thing...I even mentioned to my husband, that maybe I should try the "natural" approach. But, I've been in so much pain the last couple of weeks, I have decided to take whatever meds my rheumy prescribes. I'll try to do it with a big smile too! :)
Best of luck!! and please keep us update!
At one of my first appointments, my Rheum mentioned that some people find that avoiding nightshades and going gluten free can help some people. Immediately started eliminating nightshades. Didn't think it was doing anything until a friend made a beautiful eggplant parm with fresh tomatoes! Killed me the next day!
Started a paleo kind of thing right after Thanksgiving... have since modified it to avoiding processed foods, especially white flour and white sugar and limiting grains, beans (lectins) and dairy. At the same time, my Dr. was not happy with either my symptoms or inflammation numbers and we added humira to the mtx.
Up until a minor flare this week, been doing great. And lost 15 pounds, which I haven't been able to do in years! Would love to hear what works for you, but want to add my support to everyone trying to figure what works best for them.

stay at it Lynne723, you've a patience in dealing with the subtleties of individuals and their personal characteristics that I do not. my hat is off to you Mam.
I've had no problem with others over anything.
Yes there are those that have their opinions, but it's just that opinions.
I realize diet does help some & I'm thrilled for those people.
Hopefully you can help another here & I say you go girl.
