My rhuemy told my daughter (22) it was only a 1% chance and not to worry. But I want her to watch her weight and eat healthy, I know it was stress, and bad eating habits that made RA show up in me.

I have two boys one has had bone problems from birth and the other does have stiff knees at times which I have sent him to my Rheumatologist, who ruled out RA. I tell them because of the history they have to be aware and on the watch for RA. I know I cannot worry about what I cannot control. I just pray and hope they don't develop it.

I worry constantly that I will pass this on to my daughters or my grandchildren. I do believe my mother had it before she died of cancer, and my sister also had it, although she died from cancer as well. Two of my daughters have had problems with carpel tunnel syndrome in their 30's, one had to have surgery.

I was 66 when diagnosed but I don't know how long I actually had it. There definitely seems to be a genetic component to this disease. I can only hope that if they do get it, perhaps there will finally be a cure, or they will get it late in life as I did. They have all expressed to me that they expect to get it, due to our family history. That's so sad.

This is REALLY a terrible thing to have and yes it is a sad thing. I tell my boys to "remember the good and don't dwell on the bad"

My 7 year old has post strep reactive arthritis with an HLA-B27 gene that makes him more susceptible to developing more issues down the road. RA sucks, but watching your child go through anything is 10x scarier.

i was about to post this thinking of my baby and talking to her pediatrician as well. i can take all the pains but i cant see her suffer from this devil. i pray to god that she should live a healthy and happy life. she is the only one i have. i think my grandfather had RA. he died in his 90s when i was young, but i still remember how his hands and feet were, how he used to walk with a cane and how his lifestyle was. when i asked my dad, my dad said one of his cousin brothers had RA too who died in his 40s. and now me. hope it stops with me. no more RA sufferers god, pls.
my baby has got my hubby's genes. he is in good health. hope she will do fine. but i am going to talk to her pediatrician and i am gonna watch her too. she is 2.5 but still i am worried.

I do not worry about it. Honestly, I feel sorta lucky that of all the bad genes that could strike, RA isn't the worst.
It's bad, I know, but there are far worse. :(

My kids are only 9 and 12. We need to make it to the other side of 21 alive first. :)
