Well y'all please pray for me if you've been following my hopeless self on here then you know that I had a knee replacement march 27 all was ok until I had a nasty fall on Mother's Day and partial tear to quad and knee tendon. In the mean time my other knee needs replaced also and has been in so much pain from taking the burden I also have bad right hip. Well I fell off my basement stairs tonight felt a snap in my knee and instant fiery pain now hurts to bear weight again. I hope it was nothing maybe feel better tomorrow. But I think it's the RA that is eating up all my cartilage in the first place. I already had my big toe joint replaced from it both knees missing cartilage and possible hip. I feel so hopeless I can't take much more I know this isn't about my RA as much as it is about my knee but I know you will all care about me and I sure need it. Thanx everyone.

Hot, swollen, and no better is not good. 8:00 AM, you had better be dialing the orthopedics office.

Perhaps you can sit in a chair with wheels and roll around to assist with the housework...but I agree with contacting the dr if you continue to have problems

Kim, oh my goodness. I have two flights of stairs as well to get to the laundry. My Husband used to carry the laundry down the stairs, and ran the machine, then would carry it back, and I would fold and put away. Then he tore a tendon in his arm ( lifting weights, having a hard time accepting the fact that is long past 40. Good thing I was improving on my meds, but still carry 1/2 load of wash up an down.
Try and picture yourself as the domestic supervisor, you give clear directions on what needs to be done, and oversee the entire household.

Called the dr but he's not in all week. They are leaving him a mesg. It is a bit better today tho. Still hot and still swollen but not as much pain. And we are supposed to go on vacation in a few weeks! Ugh

Hi Kim,
I am so sorry to hear about your fall. Your recovery has been on my mind with hope and prayers for you everyday. I do hear you about taking care of your home, and I feel the same way about my home. You are very blessed to have a loving family that wants to help you! Can you imagine how they feel when they see how much pain you are in due to this nasty RA. They must feel very helpless, and by allowing them to help you out with the house will probably help them too. Remember this is only temporary until the knee heals and gets stronger, but right now your knee healing is the most important thing so that you can back to running your household. This is not everything to be done in the house......just the big stuff like the laundry. Do what you can, but baby that new knee for now. Please!

I don't know how feasible it is but can you cut a laundry chute down to the basement? I have one in my master bedroom and I love it. Even though I have two sets of stairs to get down there it as least saves me from carrying the loads down. Then I can wash & dry & my son/hubby can bring them up. We don't have a way to move the w/d upstairs so that's the best alternative we would dome up with. I usually do the butt scoot down the stairs but the boys are pretty good about doing there own for the most part. They're 14 & 49 so they're able. Just a thought and easier than reconfiguring the plumbing for moving the w/d to another level.

It was a load of laundry on the stair steps that started me on my way to a hip replacement, good luck to you. I care.
