Well y'all please pray for me if you've been following my hopeless self on here then you know that I had a knee replacement march 27 all was ok until I had a nasty fall on Mother's Day and partial tear to quad and knee tendon. In the mean time my other knee needs replaced also and has been in so much pain from taking the burden I also have bad right hip. Well I fell off my basement stairs tonight felt a snap in my knee and instant fiery pain now hurts to bear weight again. I hope it was nothing maybe feel better tomorrow. But I think it's the RA that is eating up all my cartilage in the first place. I already had my big toe joint replaced from it both knees missing cartilage and possible hip. I feel so hopeless I can't take much more I know this isn't about my RA as much as it is about my knee but I know you will all care about me and I sure need it. Thanx everyone.

what were you doing on the cellar stairs let me guess, laundry, was I right? :)

so you have a truck with running boards. the wash and dry in the basement.

and you have tons of new joints.

does your spouse and daughter like the sound of a one level? :)

it sounds like a bulldozer of pain. hope you have meds tonight and lots of movies to watch through the night

Yes it was laundry that was calling my name from the basement I have tried to convince my husband to move to one story but we are a bit stuck right now with our mortgage. Plus he is a big hunter and we live on property it would be hard for him yo give it up but I'm in deep prayer about it.

OK then convince him to move the washer and dryer to the kitchen then :) - he can keep his guns and animals and you can stay on the same level to fluff and fold :)

can he at least carpet them so you can slide down on your backside and then go back up stairs one stair at a time on your rear end?

any home adaptive Occupational Therapists on the board? :) for creative thinking?

I feel your pain. =( I was thinking the same thing,move that washer and dryer upstairs OR better yet....since hubby wants to hunt and won't move, make him do the laundry. He can bring up the steps the laundry to fold. Yup I like that!

RA ate my knees too. And a huge hug to you.

You are in my thoughts daily. I have to agree with depotblue; install a washer/dryer upstairs. With all of the surgeries and RA you shouldn't be going up & down stairs, too easy to fall with really harmful consequences. You surely don't need any more owies my dear. Take care of yourself and if you can't move to appliances have your daughter jump in and help with the laundry. Trish

My goodness! You have certainly had more than your share of pain and misfortune. I hope you are able to get relief from the pain and get a good night's sleep. It would be wonderful if you wake up feeling better, but if not I hope you will see your doctor about tonight's fall. In the mean time, you are in my prayers. Please keep us in the loop, as far as what is going on.

Which knee was this, the new one (hope not!) or the old one?

Sounds to me like your husband has three choices: agree to look for a single story house; install an elevator in the one you have; or get real good at doing laundry.

Healing from surgery is hard enough without falling and messing things up worse.

Sending our best! On a teasing note to try to cheer you up...sounds like your dr needs better glue to hold you together :) Or perhaps a suit of armor like robocop!

I am new to RA and this group, but I had a thought on your problem-can you get a stair chair? This would be a chair for you to ride up and down to your basement. I have seen them installed in individual homes.

Well it's not better today hurting very bad I don't think I damaged the knee replacement I think soft tissue but its hot and swollen and loads of pain. I'm gonna have to call dr tomorrow to see what he says. I didn't know that RA eats up cartilage but I do believe it does. I have thought about the stair chair but I would need 2 because our house has basement and upstairs. And my family is willing to help me with chores in fact they yell at me all the time not to do stuff but it's just in my nature I can't help it I tend to go crazy if I can't take care of my house hold I don't work outside the home so this is what I do it almost feels like I'm bring punished to be told to sit with ice on and don't do things I know that's weird but it's like a kid that has to sit on the benches during a big game like I can't participate in life.
