New meds again

After calling the rheumatologist every day as many of you told me to do. They finally let me come in today. Thank god! So they kept me on prednisone but made the tablets 5mg every 6 hours and put me on SULFASALAZINE 500 mg 3x a day. Thats just for now until I get some test done and hopefully then I can start a med called Humira. I've read the pamphlet and it sounds great except for the injection once a week but at this point I'll try anything. Fingers crossed. Thank you guys for all the advice and suggestions. I'd be lost without it. Almost forgot to mention I got a big shot on my arm today. Omg my arm is soooo sore

I hope this combo works for you. Be very careful with Sulfasalazine though. It is aspirin based, and I became allergic to it after about 6 months. But the catch is, it took me two months of having my whole body turn red and itchy, when I would take a Bendryl, to realize it was the delayed reaction, enteric coated Sulfasalazine that was the culprit. I was not allergic to aspirin before I started on that drug, and I am not any more. Just Sulfasalazine!

I've been on MTX and Humira combination for 5 years. It gave me my life back. The injections are typically once a week for a couple weeks [loading dose] then every other week. I just took mine this morning. It's a piece of cake. Simple.

So what was the injection you got in the office? I'm pretty sure I know.......but.....

You're not taking any more of your mother's morphine pills, are you?

I'm so happy for you. Did he tell you try to ease off the prednisone or wait till you start the Humira to do that?

I think when I start the Humira they may bring down the prednisone. Although for two days I have been feeling almost normal yay!! I think that steroid shot did it.
