I started MTX 3 weeks ago. I took 3 pills yesterday morning and for the first time no side effects the day after. Although, last night I was so sleepy. I did wake up with new ankle pain and shoulder but for the first time in months I didn't wake up with nausea.
Did anyone experience nausea at the beginning of your RA? Could this be caused by the inflammation in our bodies? Maybe my MTX is starting to work a tiny bit?
RA is such a amazingly complex disease with so many things going on at once. I wish they would change its name to Rheumatoid Disease instead. And so many degree's of progression for each individual.

Your doc is just taking it very slowly and hoping you stay feeling fairly well. But as the dosage goes up, so do the side effects. Many here have switched over to taking it by injection to by-pass the stomach problems.
So give it time....you may yet have more problems as you reach the therapeutic dose which is considered 15mgs(6pills).
