I only take my MTX after a full meal

I don't take it on an empty stomach, either. I had to split my dose in half over two nights and take it at bedtime to avoid the dizziness and nausea. I get pretty significant brain fog on the morning after the first dose, though. I've found that an extra helping of caffeine helps minimize the fog as much as possible.

I take my MTX on Friday nights after a full meal. It does not make me feel sick, which is a blessing, but it makes me very, very tired the next day. Half of every Saturday, I am sleeping.

I also take mine once a week after dinner. I get some nausea next couple of days.

I have only taken MTX three times. I haven't had any problems. My Dr. told me to take folic acid every day, she said that would help with side effects.

I tried on a full stomach for a while and it didn't seem to help. Then tried on an empty stomach still didn't help I am now injecting MTX. I haven't experienced any side effects it is just more time consuming than the pills, I inject on Tuesday mornings before work.
How can I switch the time of day? I would rather inject at night. But is it ok just to switch one week?

Take MTX injectably, no symptoms except mild headache on shot day. Have you thought about injectable? It goes directly into the bloodstream and seems to be more tolerant to some. Also, not sure how long you have been on MTX but the symptoms of nausea and hair loss subcide the longer you are on the meds.

Also I stay extremely hydrated everyday.

It gave me really bad headaches, like not abe to function headaches.

Injectables are so much better. I would be sick for days on the pills. My body hurt, I had depression, foggy head.
Stared doing injections, and I feel so much better. I have no side effects except a little wired/tired the day of injection.

I take my mtx pills on Thursday morning. Occasionally have 10 or 15 minutes of 'ugh' but otherwise am okay. Usually tired on Friday, but it's definitely do-able.

Over the last two months I have been having an increase in stomach pain and my doctor contributed it to the plaquenil and meloxicam and so took me off the plaquenil and switched me to celebrex. Well, I do have some improvement, but I can definitely now say the stomach pain is worse the morning after my mthx. pills. Rheumy told me to think about the injectible. Going to talk to her about that in January.

Wanted to add I did have stomach problems after taking the MTX. The first & second day, on my third so we will see how it goes.

It is my first dose but I'm on other meds also that I cannot go without. With the stomach ache from the M\TX the other meds don't help. Food did not matter so much. Thinking perhaps I should discuss the injection with the pharmacist & doctor.
Thought I'd add my experience to this instead of starting a discussion about the same thing.

I read someone took MTX after a very heavy, fat laden meal and they did not have nausea with that.

I had to stop. Liver numbers went sky high.

I also usuallyhave waves of mild nausea for a couple of days after taking MTX orally. Thanksgiving Day, I didn't take my usual Thursday dose until night time and then went to bed. I don't know whether it was my diet or taking the dose at night, but I was sicker than usual. My exprience tells me that on the day I take my MTX: 1. be especially careful of what I eat all day 2. take after eating something that will line your stomach, such as oatmeal or, for us Southerners, grits, and 3. take early in the day and stay active and upright.
