This explains why when I take it, it makes the inflammation a little less than it was before I took it. I just thought that was an odd thing but now it makes since. My Rheumy knows I am on this and she prescribed the Humira along with my mthx which she said was a little higher dosage than she really wanted me on, but she didn't tell me to stop taking the morphine. This makes me nervous, but thanks for posting it.

I havn't heard that either, but It may be good to take with our meds, who knows.

I only take it when absolutely nesscicary because it hurts my tummy.

I have percicet for when the pain is excruciating, but that realy realy makes me high!!!!
So most days it's Vicoden 7,5 for me. I can generally get bye on one a day. I take half in the morning and half in the evening.

When flared, I take what ever I need...Morphin, Percacet, diazapam, and phenagran for the nasea....

Oh to be pain free and no meds....maybe one day!!!!

That is an interesting read. Thanks for bringing it up. Unfortunately I can't take any of the opioid meds (morphine, vicodin, percodan/cet) b/c they make me sick to the stomach. :( I'm wondering how many of us need morphine for pain control?

It is very interesting. I also have trouble with opioids because I don't tolerate them well, and for now can't take them anyway because of my baby.

Its becoming harder and harder to cope without pain medication, so I am hoping the Enbrel works. I've been looking into alternative ways to deal with the pain but am concerned that at some point I won't be able to cope any more and will need something.

I think some people have a high tolerance for pain and can get by on things like tylenol and ibuprofen, but for me, my pain is at a 9 when I am in a flare and they don't even take the edge off.
When I am like that even the morphine and percacet don't stop the pain, they just make it bearable...

Missy, that makes sense. When I was doing my first round of PT, the therapist was the one who suggested my problems were bilateral and I should consider seeing a rheumy. I didn't know how painful some areas were until she started working on them.

I guess I should feel fortunate that I do have a high pain threshold.

I wonder where that puts me then, if I am starting to get to the point where its driving me to distraction.

I think that my message got misconstrued.....I was just saying that with morphine (or pain meds like morphine) that with all the other immunosuppresents we take that morphine lowers our immune system too so we really need to be careful to wash our hands and not be around sick people.....I have to take pain meds too sometimes, especially today. LOL!!!

Everyone has different pain levels with RA. I have a friend that has RA and Fibro and she still is able to work, work out, etc. I, on the other hand, cannot do any of those things. There are different levels of RA and some do not experience the really bad pain, and can still function. I say that you know your body and what you need to be pain free. If you have tried the other drugs and nothing seems to work, you may have to try something stronger. Some people have flares for a few days and then it's over for them. some, like me, have them for weeks, sometimes months. Imagine having to live like that? It's not fun at all. If you are in pain, then take whatever you need to function and of course, and of course, follow the instructions on your prescription.
