I am a migraineur and the methotrexate didnt seem to change the pattern. On it for a long time.

However my migraines have reduced in number quite significantly this year. If I look for a drug cause can only link it to plaquenil which I started just over a year ago.

May be patterns change with age.

Wow migraines for 4 or 5 days would be a bit much maybe give your doctor a call... you might have to change your meds..... I have had migraines for years then all at once they stopped and I would just get nausea...it was so very bad then even that had went away after a year or so...but with being on plaquenil and mxt I seem to get headaches and nausea daily plus have had aura now and then too. Hoping this will settle down after I have been on these meds for a while longer.

Oh boy my next to favorite medical complaint. (Sarcasm). Hello--! Migraineur here too. They got worse and worse once I entered my 50's. Discovered that I had to 1. Reduce stress 2. Watch for tyramine foods (google this) and 3. They were weather related. I take a supplement called Migrelief that is a God send. Lost my job (another baby boomer axed) so ---ah--- stress gone! At that point the migraines went from 20/ month (never missed a day at work. I was nuts to go those days) to maybe one migraine every 4 months. I started methotrexate and have NOT HAD ONE MIGRAINE SINCE!!! In fact, I am tentatively eating foods which previously provoked the migraines. Yippee! And I love my placquenil/mtx/mobic combo. PTL.

I noticed for myself as well & I read once that as we get older the severity & frequency of migraines tend to subside or diminish..for some. I noticed "athomenow" state as she got into her 50's they got worse! Yikes!!!

Actually it's not uncommon for migraineurs to go through "cycles" I was just trying to see if there were any correlations between the type of meds we take as RA sufferers being that most of them are immune suppressants like MTX or Plaquenil, maybe it's the overactive immune system that causes migraines? Maybe, maybe not?

Over the years it's just driven me mad to try & pinpoint certain triggers & foods. It's like what they say about cancer, "Almost anything now a days can give you cancer" & that's what I feel about supposed migraine triggers, I know there's definitely major triggers out there for some people but for me I've noticed it all varies depending on my mood, the color the sky is that day, where the moon is at night, did I eat that pumpkin pie after 6 or before 6, for me the triggers just seem to be all over the place so I stopped paying attention to them. But I noticed you've been having some luck on the MTX & Plaq..hmmmmm? I'm going to lean towards some type of correlation somehow.

I also suffered from chronic vestibular migraines for about thirteen years. I now have them under control with cpap machine and botox.
When I started MTX I noticed the migraine symptoms coming back. These symptoms intensified as my dosage increased. Things got so bad I could not function, mostly due to the intense vertigo.
I stopped MTX(20mg tablets) for 2 weeks then started up again with 25 mg injections.
I now have some symptoms the day of the injection but usually recover with no side effects by the second day. Without the injections I would not be able to continue with the MTX. The side effects are very minimal now.

Disclaimer: If anything in this comment does not make sense it is due to a flare and nasty brain fog. I feel like my IQ is about 2.

I get migraine headaches too. They started before I was dx with the Fibro and my RA. I really haven't noticed if my MXT or my Numeric make them better or worse. I guess I should start to pay more attention. Just this week I was saying to my husband that I was surprised I wasn't sick more often with the meds I am on and all (prednisone also) he commented back ooh once a week isn't too much? I guess sometimes I like to think I am better than I am.
