I used to have friends in AL and so would visit there often, it's a great state!

I used to live in Colorado in the mountain close to Eisenhower tunnel.... i loved hiking biking skiing and shoeing....
I live in the desert now and really love the desert too. I can't handle the cold like i used to. I really do love the desert heat and Sun now. I loved the mountains but lived in a canyon way out in a valley where there was very little direct sunlight during even a summer day.
Moving to the desert has helped everything from SAD winter depression to joint pain.... but i do miss the scenery and the people there are so fantastic.
I hope u get to go visit some. I'm planning a trip there in July where i used to live....

Kimberley, I'm in Colorado--and it is, indeed a special place. Hope that you get back to visit. In the meantime, you can find many "micilanie" things to do in Alabama!

Lol!! We go back as often as we can. This month we get to go back to Montana that's where I met my husband. Goin to glacier. And then to mt Rushmore for 4th July fireworks. Won't be in Co. This time but it will still be georgeous I just hope I get some relief b4 then. I really need my hips to behave.

Kimberly do you feel better with the weather in Al than in Co ? I too would love to go to Mt. Rushmore. Enjoy yourself. That makes me think of another thread to start about traveling.....

I feel much worse in Al. The humidity I think mayb even the elevation I felt much better there even in the winter.

I went to college in KY . . . one weekend two friends and I were meeting another friend at her grandma's house (Mamaw) in Western KY. The directions were as follows. Get off at [X] exit, turn left. At the white house turn right. At the Huge stone turn left. House will be tenth on your left about 1/4 mile off of road. Purple mailbox. Should take you about forty minutes from the highway. Well, she ended up meeting us one exit up because she had to go to the mall. And I tell you what, the directions were dead on, but I never would've trusted them. About halfway between the White house and the Huge stone there was a HUGE boat (at least thirty feet; I live 8 miles from Lake Erie now) for sale with a sign that said "Fer Sail $1500" No joke . . .

You might see an ad like that in our paper here in the Ozark Mountains. I remember when I first moved here the big story on the news was that there is now fluoride in the water! lmao Anytime you see Arkansas on any major news networks it always someone with missing teeth or fun stories about deep fried Twinkies. lol Even the Weather Channel skips over Arkansas unless there is a tornado touch down. They always explain the weather from TX to TN or from OK to MO.

My first day of work I told a couple, "Thanks you guys. Please come back again soon." They turned and looked at me with a very odd expression. So I said, "Ya'll have a good day" Then they smiled and nodded. Most people here are very considerate of others.. ie holding doors for you, if your car breaks down like 5 people will stop, etc...

Actually where I live there are a lot of people from many different states that have migrated here for religious reasons, to retire, purchase property, or just enjoy the lifestyle. I am from CA myself and also lived in CO for college so I do miss the beauty. CA is building up instead of out. Land here is like buying pizza slices compared to CA or CO. But, AR is beautiful also and there is a lot to see in the natural state.
