The first two weeks on mtx I was suffering side effects...vomiting and such. However, this week has been much much better! No nausea and less than 2 days of added fatigue. My rheumy is a little different in that he has me do blood work every two weeks for the first 3 months. To ensure this happens he only scripts 2 weeks of medication at a time. So...when I went to pick up my third dose, after my lab work was cleared, the pharmacy told me the manufacturer was different. My question is can the manufacturer change be the result of few side effects or has by body adjusted. If it's the manufacturer I'd going to start requesting this one!

Just in case it is the manufacturer, would you mind telling me which one it is? I just had my first week of MTX, and feeling quite cruddy. But the doctor also just reduced my prednisone and discontinued Cellcept, so I'm not sure what is affecting me right at the moment. Hope you continue to do well on MTX, it is very encouraging to me.

That is very interesting. I checked, and mine is DAVA, imprint M1. It hasn't given me side effects at all, but your theory could very well be right. You know how some drugs work better for some people if they're the brand name as opposed to generic? Could it be the same type of thing?

are you all talking about ORAL or injected meth.

I got rid of nausea by swithcing from oral or injecting.

The side effects based on manufacturer can make a big, big difference.

After being on Plaquenil, for a few months, all of a sudden I started having extreme stomach pains. This landed me to the emergency room.

It was a change of manufacturer for the Plaquenil.

The old manufacturer was Mylan which the pharmacy had switched because it is relatively more expensive then the other generics.

I switched pharmacies and found one which will give me Mylan for both Methotrexate and Plaquenil.

So yes, the manufacturer can make a big difference.
