Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic, inflammatory, multisystem, autoimmune disorder. It is a disabling and painful condition which can lead to substantial loss of mobility due to pain and joint destruction. The disease is also systemic in that it often also affects many extra-articular tissues throughout the body including the skin, blood vessels, heart, lungs, and...

Apparently this cold virus geared up shortly after the kids went back to school. It's not the flu, and it's not a common cold. It comes on VERY quickly, knocks you down and out for 3 days with coughing the runniest nose, gagging.....then it starts to subside, though the lethargy remains for weeks later. In most cases it turns bacterial, requiring antibiotics. I had a Z-pack to knock it out. Anyway, I'm a little over 3 weeks into it. I still can't talk without gagging and the lethargy is nuts. But I'm working and doing the regular stuff, albeit slowly. I'm in NB and my whole neighborhood....well about 1 out of every 2 people have/had it.
As most know, my RA is under good control with MTX and Humira. However, the past few days I've had more aches and pains. I really think this is from the middle of the night light rain we've had the past few days or so. There's something about precipitation that hits my hips and knees. [Old age doesn't help, neither does OA.] So I really wonder, Oceans, if your joint pain this past week isn't from the precipitation. Surely it's damp in the early morning where you are.
BTW - for those who are interested: I typically take my MTX on Monday nights and my biweekly Humira on Tuesdays. I was "hit" with this cold on a Saturday night, I skipped both the MTX and Humira that week and let the antibiotics do their thing. I went back on the DMARDS about 10 days after I started the cold.
Katie, how are you doing? Didn't mean to hijack your thread.
