Took my first dose last Thursday evening....5 pills at 7:00. I was fine that night and the next morning. Got a slight headache Friday afternoon. By 7:00 that night, OMG I crashed. I could barely open my eyes. Thank goodness I didn't get sick...not sure I could have crawled to the bathroom...
By Saturday morning I was fine...no sickness. I hope that's the only side effect I get.
My rheumy doesn't give folic acid unless the med isn't well tolerated. Then if the side effects are very bad, he changes to something else.
After some research, looks like folic acid, biotin, and zinc should be taken. I just get sick of taking pills...Ra meds, thyroid meds, sinus meds, magnesium, d3, now vit/min for the mtx....just too much to think about some days.

I started on a small dose Mtx - 5 pills = 12.50. They didn't seem to work very well. So he added 3 more pills to my weekly dose. Now I take 8...or I will this Saturday. I just could not make myself go from 5 to 8...so I took 6 one wk, then this past Sat. I took 7, and this coming Sat. I will take 8.
I did not have any problems with the 7 pills - no stomach upset, no fatigue, no nothing. I hope it stays that way when I begin 8 pills.
I'm absolutely NOT ready for the shot. I hate needles - I know it's mind over matter - I "mind" so it "matters"...ha. Maybe - Someday - but not right now. :)
I am beginning to tell the Mtx is working. Today, I have very little pain in my leg - that's huge for me. It's more like a dull ache...and the weather is rainy here in NE TX.
I haven't come to terms with this condition....I may never. I get really pissed when my muscles/bones/joints don't want to work, or when my muscles contract and feel like they're too short for my body or when my feet hurt so bad I look like Frankenstein when trying to move. And not to mention how weak I get in the heat - how of balance I get when I get up in the middle of night to go to the bathroom....yadda, yadda, yadda - Yeah...it's Monday - Ha.
