Not sure but I wouldn't be surprised especially with hormone fluctuation. I am still new to this and have read a few articles that said our RA pain can increase that time of the month. I can tell you though for the past year mine have been more painful and very heavy. They come like clockwork though.

I know that taking oral steroids, like prednisone can cause heavier periods and throw cycles out of whack. I believe methotrexate also has a similar effect for some women. If you take either of these, that could be the culprit. And of course, these kinds of side effects to the menstrual cycle can come and go on these meds.

I thought I was almost there....on the way to a complete stop. Had one period this whole year and now it's the heaviest it been in years. Yesterday I was useless. I pretty much stayed on my couch and watched TV.

I'm so sorry!!! I know that getting that close to the end and then having another period has got to be a complete nightmare!! Maybe this is the final hoorah. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!!

Thanks Jillie! I was so excited. They say you tend to go into menopause about when your mother did....mine did at 42. Dead stopped. It's my turn! haha

I hear that!! I have no reference in my family. My mother had a hysterectomy at 38, her sister had one at 42, and my one female cousin who is older than I am also had one. I'm in this perimenopause thing without any sort of genetic references. But, I haven't reached your point yet. I still get a monthly cycle, even though its changed and not as precise as it used to be. I get random hot flashes on occasion, too. I'm waiting for the day when I realize that I'm still waiting for my period to show up. That's when I plan on beginning the preparations for my menopause party. Because there will be one, even if I'm the only one who attends it!
