Then, when I went to get my eyes checked this year, the ophthamologist informed me that Plaquenil can cause eye damage for up to 5 years after you come off of it. So, a terrible choice for me.
Mthx injectable, as much as you may hate injections, is the best way to go, with a biologic. They work together to produce more than the two drugs separately. The pills don’t absorb well, and they damaged my stomach, and it has never really recovered, 15 years later. I have no issues with injectable.
You are going to have to make choices with your health. Staying away from needles, which barely hurt is not the goal, Plus, mthx injections are done with diabetic needles which literally do not hurt at all, if you use the 30 gauge.
I used to be on a daily biologic, Kineret, for 5 years. It hurt a lot more than mthx, but my RA was 100% controlled, in combo with mthx injectable. After a while, I liked my daily needle, because I knew it was another day without RA flares or pain. I wish I could go back to those days!
