Rheumatoid Arthritis Support Group
Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic, inflammatory, multisystem, autoimmune disorder. It is a disabling and painful condition which can lead to substantial loss of mobility due to pain and joint destruction. The disease is also systemic in that it often also affects many extra-articular tissues throughout the body including the skin, blood vessels, heart, lungs, and...
I tapered from 10 mg to 5 mg recently and had to go back to 10 yesterday. I felt so tired and my lower back went crazy, as well has my hips. I called the RD and she ok'd the prednisone going back up to 10. I increased my Tramadol, too. I still hurt, but I can stand it now. I ate a bunch of junk food last night, too. Don't feel bad, Ree. You are not alone, sweetie! Hope you feel better soon.
I immediately began thinking what did I eat yesterday to cause this: too much dairy, too much sugar? Guilty. Need to watch sugar especially when on prednisone since it increases your sugar anyway.
I was on prednisone for six months when I first got diagnosed with RA and swore once I got off I would not go back on again. But, oh my gosh, it really helps to take it for a little while under stressful conditions. When I am prednisone, I can think. I feel like my oldself. I miss that person.
I also have a hurt ankle (Zumba injury)that flares sometimes that I do not want to walk a lot. I use the self-adhesive stretch bandage that you cut to your size and wrap it around my ankle for support. I can even go walking with my ankle taped up. There are support bandages for everything.
:( Grrrrr!
What I would give to be able to binge one more time in my life like that! I've been diabetic since my late 20's so it has been a long, long, time since I was able to indulge to that degree. Maybe, though, with the RA, you need to indulge a little less next time.
I hope you are feeling much better today.
Hugs,
Frances
