I wondered if massage with RA was nice or not...Glad to know that you are still able to enjoy them! Maybe I'll get one too!

Hi Tk enjoy your massage. Inkjoy yes massages are a great way to work out the kinks of RA. Sometimes when pain will not settle down a message will work for me and assist in overcoming the pain.

I get a massage about twice a month; insurance covers it because of the RA. They are wonderful, but they don't have much staying power. I will say that the RA gets worse when I miss massages so it must help keep down the inflammation longer than the pain. The absolute best thing my massage therapist has done for me though is introduce hot wax therapy. I bought myself a nice machine ($200 investment once you count all the wax, etc.); it is amazing how much it helps. It also doesn't have staying power (although wax with a massage is incredible) but since I have my own machine I can do it frequently. After shopping, the wax treatment allows me to recover so much more quickly.

Just be aware that massages can also trigger a flare. I had that happen recently. Thought I was doing something nice for myself, but it resulted in utter misery! It wasn't deep tissue work, but apparently it was too deep for me.

Massage is part of my health regime. I get them very regularly!

I get them regularly. My back will not cooperate without massages. I have had some flares , if it is uncomfortable, lighten up and have the therapist move on to a different part!

I advise Riki excuse the spelling massage if you're not sure what it is look it up very non invasive gotten of massage that involves relaxation and stretching of the whole body. Awesome!

I get a 90min massage every 2 wks. It used to cause flares but my therapist discovered that working the area around my trigger points rather than the points themselves works better for me.

My back is a mess. I have so much scar tissue that 6 mo later it isn't breaking down.

My therapist has 30 yrs exp in massage & Phys therapy and calls me the mystery he cant solve. He's always doing research & trying new things on me to see what I respond to best.

Massage is one of the few things that brings me relief from the spasms.
