Who here has tips or tricks (or even a special device) for making the bed?

I have joint damage in my hands and especially my wrists, so I always leave the sides untucked, but I still like to have the bottom of the sheet tucked under the matress.

I looked up advice from the Arthritis Foundation but didn't think much of their tips, such as using a long-handled wooden spoon to tuck in the sheet. It'd be harder for me to grip a wooden spoon than tuck in the sheet with my hands!

Please share your brilliant ideas.

I have my husband on a 4 year apprenticeship to make beds, I can handle the queens and double, but not the king. Another year, and he should be able to do it in his own.

I know what you mean, Marlene. My husband has decades of experience making beds the way his mother taught him. So I'm still trying to retrain him to make them my way!

I should have mentioned wrist guards. I wear them for every kind of motion and they have saved my whole hand. Mind you, my wrists are almost always flared.

And further to my last posts, he thinks beds should be changed once a year. Gets mad when I do it once a month, which is TOO LONG!!!

I'm trying to do it every second week, although my preference is weekly. Like I always did before RA. Hubby has not improved, although he did help me with the upstairs beds, that his family used! LOL

Next: preparing meals we get from the food service. LOL Can he accept the challenge?

Hi, I guess I am jumping in here late. I try to wait for a day when I am not in that much pain. Sometimes that means the bed is way over due for changing. I will sometimes ask my son to help me do it one side. This way I don't have to do the back and fourth and top and bottom.
