I've got 2 torn menisci in one knee and 3 in the other knee, mostly from falls while bicycling. Mine don't hurt me like your description of your knee, in fact I just ignore the pain, nothing compared to an RA flare.
Do see a doctor and try and get an MRI. We are only guessing! I hope it improves on its own!
It does, though, make clear one of the frustrating things about a diagnosis like ours: the paranoia that comes with it. Since practically anything can be connected to an autoimmune disease, but nearly all of those things can have other explanations as well, this can really make you nuts.
