Yesterday my big dog (120 lb Great dane/ rottie mix) ran into the back of my right leg. My knee bent and I almost went down. By last night my knee at the top right of it was hurting. Today it hurts to bend it and it wants to give out on me. Going up and down stairs or sitting then standing are very painful in that knee. Knee feels tight like it wants to pop. I did not hear a popping noise or feel much of anything other than losing my balance when he ran into me.
I called my family dr office but the receptionist told me no appts for a month (like she always says unless I call and ask to speak to a nurse and they find a way to get me in). There is a walk in that they have on Saturdays. I could either keep calling in the mornings to see if there were any cancellations, go to the walk in on Saturday or just wait it out and see if it will get better. She also said to go to the ER instead but I will not use the ER as a dr office for trivial things! I'm not dying and not broken so either the regular dr or just wait it out.

I've been on high dose prednisone for pneumonia, and now I am slowly weaning. But lots of symptoms I don't like having, plus overeating has put at least 10 lbs on me. We've lived with an English Mastiff in the house for the past 25 years (on the 3rd one now) which all weigh in just shy of 200#. When they run into you or over you it hurts - never went to the doc because my dog ran me over......
If is is dislocated, physiotherapy can put it back into place and you can put tape on it to keep on going out of place.
It might just be a bad bruise with swelling, making it feel tight, but better to check it out. It does sound like some kind of injury but an injury is just adding insult to RA in my opinion.

There is a clinic 6 miles from my house, every time you try to get into that office, there are never any openings, and they tell you to drive to the clinic that is 42 miles from here.It is a large 'chain'. I finally gave up on that clinic system, and now go to a different clinic system. I figured if I can't get in to see them when I really need it, what is the point of having them as my family Dr. The Urgent Care Center is also operated by the same clinic system I now go to, but they do not care if you are a patient there or not.
Our German Shorthair pointer was sleeping with us one night, I was way on the edge, laying on my side, the dog stretched, and I was pushed out of bed, put my hand down, to break my fall, and did end up going to my orthopedist, had injured my rotator cuff. The Ortho laughed when I explained how it happened.
