I participated in the Jingle IN July which is a Christmas-themed 5K run/walk hosted in North Pole, Alaska. Proceeds go to the Arthritis Foundation for research. I totally walked it. I only run when chased.
I was proud to participate and I met both my primary goal and my wishful thinking goal:
1) Don't be last
2) Finish in under an hour
My damaged ankle has been calling me names ever since. I have no pain meds here and if I were to just call someone they would prescribe tramadol for me and that would be bad. I've started having b-a-d reactions to tramadol. I'm trying to decide who the heck I should call. I just got re-referred to the orthopedist about the ankle which really needs reconstructive surgery, but we may not have someone here that can do what needs to be done. Then again, they ought to be able to prescribe some pain meds. I've had none since February. NONE. I'm on my third primary care doc since January, so the new one doesn't really know me yet (although she was at the run/walk walking too this morning). I always worry about being labelled as drug seeking. My rheumy is very responsive, but while this is exacerbate by the condition, it isn't because of the condition, so I don't think it's really his bag.
I'd RICE it, but recent research (including the guy who originally promoted it) says that that it slows down healing and isn't all that great.

Tramadol never did anything for me. Recently, I asked rheumy for a prescription of Celebrex. Didn't know if it'd help - but figured I'd give it a try. After a couple days on it - I'll definitely refill it. Haven't had one work this well since Viox.
Have you tried celebrex yet? It is nonnarcotic, so most drs will prescribe it. Seems to last 12 hours.
Celebrex was the wonder drug antiinflammatory that helped me to realize that what I was dealing with wasn't fibromyalgia as a prior PCM would have gone to her deathbed proclaiming.
After three days on Celebrex, I was able to squat for the first time in 3 years. These days I am no on anti-inflammatories or pain meds. The methotrexate is doing really well for me so I inject that and have some allergy meds whose efficacy is debatable.
