If you inject MTX, where do you get your disposable syringes? I assumed they'd be supplied with the prescription; it makes sense to me that if you're getting a medication that has to be injected, you'll need some vehicle for actually doing so. When I got my first scrip filled the needles were just rung up with the med. I didn't even have to ask.
But, this time (same pharmacy) they acted like they'd never heard of anyone actually wanting syringes when they got a refill, and there was a lengthy delay while they looked for some. I asked how I could make it go more smoothly the next time and the clerk snapped "Well, you need to ask for them when you bring us the prescription!"
Okay, fine. Now I know the protocol, although apparently that wasn't necessary the first time.
But what is my alternative? I just assumed that it was part and parcel of the prescription itself.
If you inject MTX, what do you do? Do you order the disposable syringes online?

town has a drop box for the needle people hazmat wise.
i use online pharmacy portal for everything - I can refill there and see how many I have left. if getting close to out and I forgot to ask at last rheumamatic appt - I request from rheum's MD online portal a prescription refill to the pharmacy.
there is no automatic needle fill with my mtx.
Mostly I was just in a cranky mood because it took so darn long, and I had things that needed to get done today. And when I'd filled the prescription the first time, I did the grownup thing and asked the pharmacist if there was anything I needed to know about the process. Just seems that someone should have mentioned it then.
On the other hand, there was an annoyed looking old lady in line at the pharmacy who probably jumped to the wrong conclusion when she overhead me say "But I really NEED clean needles!"
And it was free for all those extra things. I buy the packages of 10 packs with 10 needles, or 100 needles. And in Canada, needles are right out in front, because yes, the diabetics, among others, need a lot of needles.
Orencia did give me a needle disposal container they sent out in the mail when I first started Orencia. I guess they figured one would last me forever, because I never got another one. I also got a very nice travel case with a place for 2 Orencia shaped needles, and a place for small ice packs in the front and back of the case. That was a good free gift, I have used it constantly, as we travel a lot!
And hey! Clean needles are definitely better than dirty needles, no idea what that lady's problem was! LOL
