(( Caspiana )) sorry - I'd be worried sick. I do hope your daughter gets well quickly and you stay flu-free. I think that if you get symptoms you should start tamiflu as soon as possible and that should help (I know there i a thread about the H1N1 and the information is there).

Keep lots of Lysol on hand. Wash the door knobs and handles. I hope your Daughter gets better soon. Keep us posted.

Sorry to hear about your daughter. If its any consolation, my 9 year old daughter had H1N1 and she came thru just fine. It did take almost 2 weeks for her to get fully over it though.

Just keep washing those hands and sanitizing surfaces. The mask is a good idea. I had some and wanted to wear one when my dd was sick, but I didn't want to scare her.

I'd be paranoid too! All great suggestions here. I'll just keep fingers crossed for you that you don't catch it. Marcia had sent a great email to me earlier about ways to minimize flu effects. One was gargle 4 x a day w/warm salt water, and drink 4 cups of warm tea a day to "sanitize" the throat area when i guess flu germs can grow.

I just read in a magazine that gargling with salt water twice a day is a wonderful oral prevention to illness. Also, possibly take some vitamin C and zinc. I take both to help protect my immune system. I hope your daughter gets well quickly and that the germs stay contained. I was told by my doctor that those paper masks you buy are really a useless investment as they don't really keep any germs away. Maybe just wearing the mask will give you a sense of protection, and if that would be the case then you should do it. hugs, marcia

So sorry to hear about your daughter, we're just getting over the flu. I will tell you this though, if you even think you have it, go to the doc. I would even call your Rhuemy and have him put you on Tamiflu for preventitive, that's what the pediatrition did for two of my children and they didn't get it. So far, only my daughter and I had it.

For those of us with RA, the flu's tricky. I didn't know I had it until I had a fever of 103!! As we all know, we feel like we always have the flu. So by the time I was diagnosed, thanks to the ENbrel, I was full blown and it was misserable.

My daughter just got over the (regular) flu, was out of school for a week. I am SHOCKED I did not get it. I have to say, I made her stay in her room and away from me. I know, awful. But, if I get sick, there is no one to take care of her. You might want to go on a course of (preventative antibiotics) even though it is viral, I did. Good luck!

Well so far so good. Her fever is down and she has a good appetite again. I am feeling fine (touch wood) hopefully everything will work out okay. Thanks so much for your support. It means alot to me :) *hugs*

My daughter who has Down Syndrome was just diagnosed with the Type A which they are just assuming that 90% is H1N1. I took her to the MD the moment she said she didn't feel well and she was given Tamilfu. He also gave me a script for it and told me to take it just incase. 5 days into it and she is feeling better. I'm symptom free ( knock on wood ) so far, but I think that me working in a very busy ER might be building up my immune system some. Wish me luck and let's hope I don't get it.
