Best wishes!
After being on Humira for 4 months or so and feeling some positive effect, I thought I would try to lower my Prednisone. Have been on 5mg for over a year, so I thought I would try 1/2 pill every day. On the 3rd day, I thought I was going off the deep end - pain the worst I ever felt and could hardly move. Took a couple days back on a whole pill to get back to where I was.
As other have said, I asked my Rheumatologist about this at my next visit - said that it has to tapered of VERY slowly - like 1/2 mg at a time for at least a month for each interval.
Oh well - that's what I get for trying to lessen my med intake on my own......
everything is a kick in the butt at work I agree

As to what it says about the other dmards - they can still very much be working. Prednisone has it's own set of withdrawal.
I have an on-hand bottle of 5mg pred. When I have a small flare, I take 1/2 a pill for three days. IT IS AMAZING that it can wipe out that pain at such a low dose.
Never underestimate both the good and the bad of prednisone. :)
