Ok I've heard that your gut is responsible for 70% of your immune system. I am taking Orencia infusions to stop my immune system from attacking me. Should I stay away from probiotics . I have IBS it attacks me when I get upset. To help fix it I need probiotics I feel like a dog chasing its tail

Good question and I'm curious as to the reply. I take MTX but have fibro and IBS that gets worse with stress too. I take a daily probiotic as well.

If I may ask, where are you getting the information that 70% of your immune system is in your gut? Especially if you have multiple diagnoses, be careful about who and what you trust.

"Probiotics" are the bacteria that your gut needs to function well. Why would they interfere with Orencia?

I say do what works for YOU. take care of yourself.

There are many studies, statistics, and blah blah blah out there....but in the end we have to each individually do what works for us on a person level and not judge others.....OR allow others to judge us for the choices we make for our individual healing journey.

Do your own research, talk to your own doctor, and work with your own body.... trust yourself.

Be at peace with the path u take...and don't let a lot of other opinions confuse you...

Weird you should ask this question as I just asked my doctor (my GP, not my rheumy) this today...seriously! I was also worried about its affect on the immune system while taking MTX and had stopped taking them a couple of months ago, but he said it shouldn't be a problem. Still haven't decided if I'll start taking them again as my gut has been fine.

I have Crohn's Disease and my GI doctor said that 70% of your immune system is in your digestive tract, so you are correct on that part. I have never taken Orencia before, but I certainly hope it helps you!

    My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper?
