Why did I skip my predinisone dosage yesterday and woke up with the biggest headache ever. I've been on 10mgs since November and recently tapered to 7.5 but unsuccessful at 5. So yesterday I decided to miss it since I took my Humira shot. Boy did I suffer last night! I kept waking up with what felt like a migraine and my knee was killing me. I took a couple of aleve this morning since that's the only thing that truly helps my headache. I took my usual dosage of pred around 10am and I'm just starting to feel better. I can't believe I even tried that after reading so many horror stories here about weaning too soon. Sorry guys, I just needed to vent.
BTW, I visited my rheumy yesterday and he said my bloodwork has improved so much. I'm no longer in the "anemic" range and my esr is down from 67 to 50. He wants me to continue the Arava, Humira, and 5mgs of pred until my next appt in 12 weeks. Although it made me feel better I'm still afraid I may need the pred for a while. I started seeing my most improvement with Humira and with the pred it makes me feel almost normal. It's about quality of life for me right now.

It is all about quality of life. When I am on prednisone to get over flare,i can walk and I almost feel normal. In fact, I had forgotten what normal was. I was so busy taking care of my aches; it took up my whole day.
Ree, glad you are improving. As for the pred, the first time I had it for RA (after suffering for over a year), I broke down and cried because I had forgotten how it felt to feel good. People with good health just don't know how to appreciate it. Man, nothing lifts you like a day when you feel halfway decent.
